This hike can be done at any time of the year, but is particularly scenic in the fall.
The term "Dendrarium" originates from the Greek word "dendron", which means tree. In many Western countries, the word "arboretum" is used as a synonym for arboretum, which comes from the Latin "arbor" and also means tree. Arboretum is a certain territory on which a collection of tree species (including shrubs and lianas) is planted, and which is grown outdoors. Plant species are grouped according to systematic, geographical, ecological or other characteristics. The aim of the Arboretum is to demonstrate the richness and diversity of both local tree and shrub species, as well as foreign ones, which are called "exotics".
The construction of Dendrariuma was started in 1962. A network of avenues, an outbuilding, two artificial ponds and a tree nursery (which no longer exists) were created. On an area of 1400 square metres one can see both typical representatives of Bulgarian flora (trees, shrubs and grasses) and species imported from other countries. Their total number is 145.
In 2001, an avenue for the blind was built within the boundaries of the arboretum, and in 2004, a sports and information infrastructure for children. It was renovated and redesigned in the summer of 2013.
